For my poker events, where I generally get a lot of people that are new to tequila, I usually try to have some Clase Azul on hand. It's a smooth and extremely sweet tequila that I find a lot of newbies like (especially the women).

Well, tequila is was a drink for macho guys, so, a little burn is to be expected. Now if you're looking for something on the smooth side try Partida. It's a tequila marketed by a woman for women.
It's not as high priced as Clase Azul. Now, there are others that can be considered also if I can bring up Casa Noble, Alquimia, Penca Azul, oh, lest me not forget La Fortaleza, etc., etc., etc ........

I just tried the new Espolon blanco for $22. If you sip it, it is really smooth. It does seem to have a very mild flavor profile. Kind of bland and forgettable but for a new drinker it might be worth trying.
For a reposado I found Casa Noble to be fantastic. A store had a clearance for $34 each. I only bought one. Darn. It is very flavorful, pretty smooth and imho better than the Casa Noble anejo I bought.
Course Don Julio anejo is pretty darn smooth. I tried Partida anejo once and found it super smooth and very flavorful.

I thought the new Camarena repo was very light and tasty. Like an El Tesoro light.

I've come to the conclusion, tequila can do what God intended spirits to do, create a temporal view of life as we know it that helps things look better than they are.

I think something that combines both a good price point and a smooth finish works best. I hesitate to introduce anyone to premium tequilas in case the price scares them away.
